We already loved Rotterdam, which is famous for its groundbreaking contemporary music, art, architecture and fashion. So we wanted to be in Rotterdam with L’ecole National.

And very soon we are. This is the first picture of our new shop in the centre of Rotterdam. We will also use it as our showroom and starting-point for moving L’ecole National into continental Europe and the United Kingdom.

At the moment we are transforming this empty space into one of the coolest meeting-points for creative people. To make it even better: our shop is located in the most upcoming fashion district of the Netherlands!

From next week you are all welcome at L’ecole National, Van Oldenbarneveltstraat 146 in Rotterdam!

PS We will have an official opening event later this month. Follow us here for more details. You can also follow us at Twitter: @Lecolenational.

During the last couple of months, we visited different places to start promoting and selling L’ecole National outside Scandinavia. Here, we are in the fashion district of Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Responses are good and inspiration high!

Today’s news is that we will be opening our first base and shop outside Scandinavia this year.

Watch this space for more updates…

Yesterday we got our first delivery from Buddha to Buddha. Their jewellery is designed by Batul Looman who drew his first bracelet on a beach in Goa, India in 1997. He wanted to create something that you would feel & be conscious of and Buddha to Buddha was created. The jewellery is in silver with details in leather, wood and bone.

We love the feel of these chunky pieces that gives your outfit that extra edge.

As said before stripes are back and we are loving it!

Who doesn’t love the sailor look ? The good thing is that you can add a simple thing or you can go all the way or sail away.

Stripes, cute trench coats, anchors, white and blue – the perfect colors for this spring/summer.

necklace: banana republic, shoes: louboutin daffodil, bag: big buddha,                        cardigan, dress, trenchcoat L’ecole National

We love to find different inspiration, either it is in movies, music, magazines or by visiting other cities.

So today we decided to go to one of the most developed metropolitan centers in the whole world – London !

From L’ecole National

Spencer – knitted cardigan with leather details

In the 60s the fashion trends for both sexes changed more than ever before in the history of fashion and would continue to do so throughout the decade. That is why the 60s includes major different looks, but the Jacqueline Kennedy look is probably one of the looks that pops up in your head when you think about it.

Stiletto heels, cocktail dresses, pillbox hats, elegance – reflection of a First Lady.

So today we found inspiration from Jackie Kennedy.

Heels: Christian Louboutin Daffodil, Jewelry: House of Harlow, Bag: Chloe, Dresses: L’ecole National

…and as the weather keeps getting better we are putting most of our focus on the fashion trends right now. So what is the latest thing for spring/summer?

And is it something for you? Don’t forget you can always have it your way so don’t judge it too soon and don’t be afraid to try out something new. Imagine yourself being that little girl playing dress up. You’ll love it.

Biker fashion

You probably haven’t missed the trend ”biker fashion” – The military biker chic. Either you dress it up or down. You can use a jacket as your statement piece or just try to blend it in your outfit.

Maybe you want to go all in, put your boots on and accessorize with big silver rings or leather bands, black/silver nail polish – now you are the ultimate biker chic.

If you don’t want to take it all the way you can just put on your leather jacket over your little back dress and use your favorite 5 inch heels. And still look like a bombshell.

Or you can just take a look at Buberrys or Balmains runway and see how you can tone it up or down. Whatever suits you best.

From Burberry:

The sophisticated look of the 70s

Can I say something else than vintage baby !

This look will probably speak to you the most, maybe it will remind you of something that’s hanging in your mothers wardrobe or that favorite picture at your parents house. Finally the trend is here. It’s your turn to walk down the street with that cute printed jumpsuit.

Match the edgy wide leg pants with a neat bow blouse ad on some jewelerys but don’t go all boho for this look and you are good to go.

If you have never heard about Ted Rossi before, it’s about time you see this then.

Not only does he specialize in ultra-luxurious skins, all of his collections are stunning.

Mixing crystals and python skin can’t result in anything else than something to-die-for.

I’m going to let the pictures speak for themselves.

We are happy to be a small part of the swedish movie Kyss Mig (Kiss me) that will be in theaters this summer, happy that the actors & actresses wore clothes from L’ecole National during the shoot of the movie.

Plot summary:

MIA (Ruth Vega Fernandez) and FRIDA (Liv Mjönes), both in their thirties, meet each other for the first time at their parents’ engagement party. Mia’s father, Lasse (Krister Henriksson), is about to get married to Frida’s mother, Elizabeth (Lena Endre), which will make Mia and Frida stepsisters. Lasse’s daughter, Mia, has not visited her father in years and arrives with her boyfriend, Tim (Joakim Nätterqvist), with whom she is about to get married. As Mia and Frida get to know one another, strong emotions begin to stir between them. Their relationship will turn everything upside down for everyone close to them with dramatic consequences.

If you want to add a little to a simple outfit a striped t-shirt or a cardigan is the way to go.

It’s a little touch that can be very dominant at the same time.

Don’t be afraid of a little stripes this spring !

This is what we have to offer this spring/summer

Don’t miss out our After Work Shopping the 7th of April with 10% discount on our collections. The store will be open until 20.00. Be there or be there

If I say Coco Chanel, what’s the first thing that comes to your mind?

Class, houndstooth, handbags, no.5 perfume

This mademoiselle was revolutionary for womens fashion.

She made the fashion industry accept her masculine designs at the time and by mid 1920s the Chanel look had been adopted.

Coco Chanel said,

“Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only.

Fashion is in the sky, in the streets, fashion has to do with ideas,

the way we live, and what is happening”

She’s right, fashion has much more to offer us than just “clothes”. And as L’ecole National stands for expressing your inner style who else than Coco Chanel could be the perfect icon for us. Everything she did was meant to emphasize an alternative way of living.

What does streetstyle say to you ?

And how did it become such a big thing within the fashion world? Speaking for ourselves we love to look at streetstyle pictures and L’ecole National is all about trying to express your inner style with what you are wearing. That is one reason why we enjoy to take a look at the “real” catwalk outside, on the streets.

So is there a connection between what the fashion industry are selling (or what look they are trying to sell) and what we see people wear on a daily basis. Guess this one is for you to figure out.

Some people might get inspiration from a fashion runway, magazines or television. Either we want to admit it or not we get effected by the media. And I’m not saying that’s a bad thing.

We also know that there’s a body language that can send out a whole lot of signals, some unconscious and some that we are really aware of.

Does everybody dress to get their message or announcement heard or do they just go with the flow?

Or maybe you can do like in Japan, and take the streetstyle to a whole other level where everything is about to stick out from the crowd.

Today there are plenty of different styles and different Streetstyle blogs. Our favorites:

L’ecole National does not only mean the international school. As said before

“L’ecole National meaning the national school, wishes to enhance your quality of life by balancing your inner personality by how you dress and represent yourself to the world, showing a self- aware, loving and kind human being.

Whether it’s by dressing you or by just giving you inspiration, L’ecole National will help you be a better you.”

L’ecole National is a Swedish brand founded in 2006 and offers clothes for men and women.

L’ecole National is a national school that does not teach but it certainly shows you the way.

Its new concept is to bring together the store, showroom and the office. You can find us together in the store in Malmoe. Either, selling, designing or marketing everything within our brand.

A typical day at our store looks like this:

Things to look forward to:

We are happy to promote goodwill to all people !

Happy Saint Patrick’s Day ! Are you guys wearing something green today ?

We find inspiration in a lot of things and what could be better for today than shades of green.

Charles Dickens is loved for his epic stories and vivid characters. Not only do we dream away when we read his books, we find inspiration from Alfonso Cuaron’s film version of his Great Expectations.

So what does the green color say to you ? Some people say it’s a symbol for wealth or maybe envy, all the rich characters only wear green. And at the same time it’s the director Alfonso Cuaron’s favorite color. Guess you all can have your own opinion.

Even Donna Karan (the queen of black), who designed Gwyneth Patrow’s wardrobe did everything in shades of green.

We’ve also picked our favorites from the movies soundtrack Great Expectations, Enjoy !

Film is a recurring inspiration for us at L’ecole National, it’s also a way to escape the outside world for a while & loose yourself in a fantasy or understand the world better.

Since 1991 Stockholm International Film Festival has brought the big screen outside every August, giving us movie classics with different themes each year. This year it’s political, with films like “All the President’s men” & “Hurt Locker” and we can’t wait to sit down with a pic-nic & enjoy a summer night under the stars with a great movie with friends.

Midsummer has passed and even if it feels strange the fact is that the days are now getting shorter and the evening falls earlier than a week ago, but no need to feel the summer  is ending, July will bring us those wonderful summer days and nights, even if they are a bit shorter…

In Malmö this summer there are two interesting photography exhibitions at Malmö Museer.

”Modebilder” (“Fashion Photos”) is an exhibition of fashion photographies by  23 Swedish photographers from three generations, to see 60 years of  fashion in this way will be both inspirational and interesting. The other one is “Mode + rösten = Schrewelius” (“Fashion + the voice = Schrewelius”) about the legendary fashion journalist Ingrid Schrewelius who for decades gave the Swedish television audience the latest news from the European fashion houses.

Each fragrance represents a specific downtown, midtown, or uptown locale or a city-wide sensibility.  With new introductions in the coming seasons, Bond No. 9 will infuse the island of Manhattan with scents.”

The spring came late but has finally arrived, with it we launch our spring/summer collection, our new web site & our first blog post.

As always, we want to give you well-made clothes in luxurious materials and with an exciting cut and with an eye for details.

The contrasts are evident when rough faces soft in our female collection. A tough secretary look with tailored blouses, pen-skirts with high waist and frock coats. Pleated details on  blouses and shorts in light tones creates a soft contrast to the rougher yet sleak jackets in black and kaki. The details shows influences that are both romantic with frills and bows and military with stripes and gold buttons. The range of colours  is dominated by black jackets & skirts which are contrasted with light silk blouses and airy linen garments in romantic pastels.

In the men’s collection we also see strong military influences that are mixed up with the fifties Riviera and American college culture.
The suits are classic in linen with a slim silhouette, thin wind jackets and dressy cardigans. Black and white dominates the palette with elements of kaki, gray & marine. It’s sporty for a leisure yet elegant style.

Inspire, participate, express.

Dress smart, dress your heart.
